Castor wheel size and common type
Castor sizes are usually: 30-40 (1.5 inch), 45 to 50 (2 inches), 60-65 (2.5 inch), 75-77 (3), 88 (3.5 inch), 90-96 (3.5 inch), 100-101 (4 inches), 125-128 (5 inches), 150 (6), 200 (8 inches).
So what are the common types of industrial casters? What are the common types?
There are four types of universal wheels (H, W, C and U) :
H
Ordinary casters are defined as hard tread H – shaped casters. The color of the entire caster surface should be the same color. Casters of this type are suitable for carpet floors.
W
Elastic wheel casters are defined as soft tread W casters. Tread and wheel centre should be distinctly different colours.
Casters of this type are suitable for hard stone flooring, wood flooring or ceramic tile flooring, or for those floors covered with non-textile materials.
C
Casters of this type are antistatic or conductive.
Casters of this type shall have H or W wheels. This type of casters may also fit the U-shaped casters.
U
Casters of this type are used in swivel chairs with built-in braking systems.
Casters of this type shall have H or W wheels. This type of casters may also conform to type C casters.
Note 1: For some applications, the swivel chair caster requires a built-in brake system that closes when a person sits on the castor-equipped chair, allowing easy movement in the seat. When the person leaves the chair, to prevent the chair from rolling away unintentionally, this braking action will be automatically reactivated.
Note 2: The type of castor for mounting on the swivel chair depends on the design of the chair and the type of floor and floor coverings used.
Casters are not allowed to have permanent brake systems.
