What are the castor installation way?
What are the installation way of castor wheels ?
1.
Casters are fixed to a horizontal surface with bolts and nuts. The space of the bolt holes is standardized. Plate fittings can be used to rotate and secure casters for light and transport equipment and heavy casters.
For casters with directional locks, the plate must be aligned with the short side facing the direction of operation.
The following dimensions must be considered when selecting a flat plate accessory.
– Panel dimensions (external dimensions)
– Bolt hole space
– Bolt hole diameter
2.
Casters are mounted using threaded pins and bolted to transport equipment using internal threads or cylindrical holes and nuts.
Threaded pin fittings are mainly used for light load casters.
Stainless steel thread pin (-GSX…) Can be used for corrosion resistant synthetic rotary casters.
The following dimensions must be taken into account when choosing a threaded pin.
– Thread pin diameter (thread M10 or M12) (P)
– Length of thread pin (protruding part on casters) (Q)
3.
Casters are connected by a connecting piece (such as a bolt) through the center hole of the rotating head. For leveling casters (HRIG series), the bolt hole has an internal thread, and the connector screws into the central trump card of the rotary bracket from the side of the unit.
The load capacity specified here can only be achieved if the top plate is placed along the entire diameter of the rotating castor.
This fitting type does not provide positive anti-twist locking, thus reducing the load capacity of the rotary head brake.
Using bolt holes to install casters is a cost-effective solution that requires only one bolt (as far as possible DIN 912 / ISO 4762 standard). This accessory type is mainly used for light load and transport equipment casters.
The following dimensions must be considered when selecting joints with bolt holes.
– Plate diameter (external dimension) (D)
– Bolt hole Ø (D)
4.
Casters are mounted using a plug stem, inserted into the appropriate pipe or hole and secured. The STEM FITTING IS ATTACHED TO THE CASTOR AND MUST BE SECURED WITH A RETAINING BOLT (CROSS HOLE) OR CLAMP TO PREVENT IT FROM SPINNING OR FALLING OUT. For casters with directional locks, the hole must be aligned laterally with the running direction.
The load capacity specified here can only be achieved if the top plate is placed along the entire diameter of the rotating castor.
Stem fittings are used primarily for light load, synthetic and transport equipment casters.
Stainless steel rotary casters are available with stainless steel insert stem fittings.
The following dimensions must be considered when selecting stem fittings.
– Stem diameter (P)
– Stem length (Q)
– Position of transverse hole (H), if applicable
– Diameter of cross hole (d), if applicable
5.
Casters are mounted using a synthetic expander, which is inserted into a hole or a square/round tube. The bolt presses the synthetic clamping wedge against the inner wall of the pipe.
The synthetic expander provides greater protection inside the tube than the metal expander fittings. However, it provides less clamping force than a metal expansion joint. A hexagonal shape at the bottom of the expander prevents the joint from rotating and coming off with respect to the casters.
Synthetic expander fittings are mainly used for light load and synthetic casters. Synthetic dilators with corrosion resistant clamping screws are also available (-EXR… / – EXV…). .
The following dimensions must be considered when selecting an expanders fitting.
– Inner tube size (P)
– Tube shape (round or square)
– Connector length (Q)
– Flange length (B)
6.
Casters are mounted using a metal expander, which is inserted into a hole or a square/circular tube. The bolt uncoils the clamping wedge and presses it against the inner tube wall.
The tightening torque should not exceed 50 N. For thin tubes of low strength, the tightening torque can be reduced to 16 Nm. The hexagonal shape at the bottom of the tube expander prevents the joint from spinning off with respect to the caster.
Metal expander fittings for light load and synthetic casters.
The following dimensions must be considered when selecting an expanders fitting.
– Inner tube size (P)
– Tube shape (round or square)
– Connector length (Q)
– Flange length (B)
7.
Castor beans are mounted with a latch, which is inserted into the corresponding tube or hole using a synthetic castor socket. The latch is securely connected with the casters. A spring washer ensures that the spinning casters do not fall out.
Because this accessory type does not provide anti-twist locking, rotating head brakes will not have any effect.
Insert pins are a quick and economical way to attach casters to equipment. Latch accessories are mainly used for light – load casters.
The following dimensions must be taken into account when choosing a fitting with a bolt.
– Bolt diameter (P)
– Pin length (Q)
