The softness and hardness of chair casters, caster stretcher medical wheel, and other furniture wheels also have to be considered. Soft casters generate less noise, are lighter, don’t scrape hard floors, and transmit less vibration when rolling. This makes them ideal chair casters for hardwood floors. They have the disadvantage of having less grip on the floor, which means they are harder to get rolling than hard casters. The hard casters, like those found in office chair rollers, are easier to roll due to their higher attrition with the ground. They can handle more load and are easier to maneuver.
